Upon entering a New York bar, comedian Shane O'Driscoll meets Kirsty, a beautiful and enigmatic bartender. They quickly realize that there is something special between them. Months later, on Christmas Eve, Shane, now a disheveled and desperate wreck, sits down with a drunk homeless man and recounts the story of the past year, reflecting on his whirlwind relationship with Kirsty. They had traveled to Ireland to mourn the death of Kirsty's beloved grandmother and had become engaged. But one day, Kirsty disappears. Furious that she has left him, Shane is surprised to learn that she has a terminal illness that she has kept hidden. Deciding to spend the time he has left with her, Shane finds her to try one last time to win her heart.
